The Cool Kids - “Rush Hour Traffic”
Just added two of my favorite albums to the collection @HerFavColor @ExileRadio @ApolloBrown. Thank you @FatBeatsNY!! #CloudPrint
I can’t stress how much I was looking forward to this compilation and Chuck STILL managed to blow my mind. Why? It wasn’t his traditional boom bap sound. This is a complete sound. You won’t be able to detect track transitions. It’s like you are listening to a beautiful DJ Set. Aside from Apollo Brown, Chuck Inglish is my favorite producer out today. This tape is fantastic, and you need it immediately. 20 FREE BEATS! If you like hip-hop, if you like dancing, if you like having fun, if you wanna rap, download this.. This album could have easily been on the forthcoming honorable mentions list.
Das Racist absolutely dominated their Conan performance
Top 12 for 2011: Projects with massive replay value
10) Apollo Brown’s “Clouds”
One of my favorite albums to listen to at anytime of day. Instrumental hip hop may be my favorite genre of music due to the intricacies of the beats that don’t require any verses or bars from an MC. They allow the listener’s mind to wander and paint a story with the various tones. Apollo Brown, is one of my favorite current producers, and one of the way too talented artists on the Mello Music Group roster. He’s established a buzz in his native Detroit and has begun working with various MC’s on an international scale. He also released a full length album this year with Rochester MC, Hassaan Mackey, that will be featured in the honorable mentions of this best of the year list. I’d recommend pouring yourself a favorite drink, or simply laying back on the couch and let the soul beats take you into Apollo’s awesome world. Check out the album here: http://mellomusicgroup.bandcamp.com/album/clouds and browse around the various Mello Music Group releases, some of which will be further up on the list.

Eminem Chrysler Commercial
By MIstateOfMind Like many people who watch the Super Bowl, I was way too distracted by all the food and drinks to pay attention to every single commercial. There is one, however, that stood out to me. The commercial I speak of is the one for the Chrysler 200. In case you missed it or would like to watch it again, here it is
What I enjoyed most about it was that as the car was being shown, the voice in the background is talking up Detroit and the pride that people have who are from there. Outsiders may bash Detroit and say negative things, but for us Michiganders, we have always had a great passion for what that city means to our state. We will always have the faith that one day Detroit will rise again… The images in the clip were carefully picked out. Among the more notable were the Joe Louis fist, the RenCen building, and the Fox Theater. Since Eminem is widely viewed as the most notable figure from Detroit for today’s youth, the marketing team chose him as their main character. This commercial was essentially an attempt by Chrysler to reassert themselves and show the rest of the country that Detroit will be mounting a comeback. The message the ad delivered really hit home for me and I view it as the most impressive commercial from this past Super Bowl. Thoughts?
