Travel Channel Aspirations
By Star1ogic So, lately I’ve been really considering what I want to do as a career. I’m pretty talented in math and science so for a while I wanted to be an engineer, specifically an Imagineer which I mentioned in my first post. But lately I realized I really don’t want to do multiplication, addition, etc. all my life and I for damn sure don’t want to mix acids and bases. I’ve been realizing the only thing I really want to do is travel…everywhere. See everything, meet everybody, and especially eat the best cuisine of the world. Now, if anyone watches a lot of TV like I do, you might be reminded of Rick Steves or Anthony Bourdain or Samantha Brown or any other show you see on the Travel Channel. Well, that is pretty much how I want to spend my life, but I don’t think I have really have anything that sticks out that would be worthy of a TV show. Bourdain has the badass attitude, New Jersey accent, and cynical views. Adam Richmond has the Brooklyn humor and ability to eat a 72 ounce steak. I don’t really have anything like that to offer, just maybe a lack of direction. I would need to find some sort of interesting idea for a show that has not really been done yet. Perhaps a show about the myths of the world, or maybe with a focus on real-life movie sets, maybe I could be on MTV and date girls from different places around the world (possible title: Ben Dover Loves the World). I don’t know, if you have any suggestions, comment down below. But I’m not sure if I would even be the right person to have TV show. Maybe I could get paid for traveling some other way. Maybe a diplomat? Translator? Jumper like Hayden Christensen? Well, in the mean time, I’m gonna give you the top ten destinations that I want to visit and my reasoning behind that. 1. Matamata, New Zealand-Where the Hobbiton scenes were filmed for the Lord of the Rings series. It has a rich countryside and fields of green. Also, the cheeriest place in the world. 2. Matmata(coincidence), Tunisia-Where the Tatooine scenes were filmed in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Star Wars movies. Maybe I’d go to Tunis too, and see the ruins of Carthage, I don’t know, what else is there to do in Tunisia? 3. Neuschwanstein, Germany-Winter wonderland castle that inspired Cinderella’s castle for Walt Disney. Also in Bavarian Alps, known for their beer, enough said. 4. Antarctica-Because I like frostbite…and to see penguins and to be able to say “I went to Antarctica.” 5. Guilin, China-Breathtaking and essentially classic China. Also less smog than most places in China. 6. Mt. Olympus, Greece-To meet Zeus and Hera. To see if all the buzz about it is true. I’m a big Greek mythology fan so I feel like I should see it at some point. 7. Machu Picchu, Peru-One of the most impressive wonders of the world. How did they haul the materials to the top of the mountain without being able to breathe? And this race was wiped out by European disease and gunpowder. Yay Colonialism! 8. Great Rift Valley, Africa?-Where the human race originated. Full of exciting species including lions, rhinos, giraffes. 9. Loch Ness, Scotland-To see if all the buzz about it is true. And because Scotland is awesome. I’ll also have to play on the nearest golf course. 10. Phang-Nga Bay, Thailand-Ridiculous islands that remind me of the Hanging Mountains on Pandora. Things to think about: What if all stories are true on some planet far away? And the reason for the stories we “conceive” is that brainwaves actually travel like radio waves but greater distances. For example, Pandora may be a planet in the Andromeda and Jedis are fighting Sith near Polaris.
